Hey there! It’s been A HOT MINUTE since I’ve taken time to write (that wasn’t work related) and I’ve got to say it feels good to get back to the keyboard.
I’ve always believed that sharing our story empowers others to learn and discover new things so my hope is that some of the things I’ve been focusing on and discovering over the past few months will serve you and your life in some way.
So here’s what I’ve been up to…
FAMILY LIFE
Every day in my Start Today Journal, I write “I am an exceptional wife.” and “I’m a patient and present mom.” It may sound so simple but writing those things out every day serves as a reminder of how I want to show up for my family.
Lately, showing up as an exceptional wife means I remember to turn the coffee pot on so it’s hot and ready when The Farmer gets out of bed in the morning. It’s been a long, drawn out planting season so I figured this little gesture is the least I can do.
I’ve also taken over bottle calf duties for the most part. The little critter has to eat too and often times The Farmer doesn’t get home in the evening until after dark so that chore has become part of my evening routine.
Little E’s been living her best toddler life lately and it’s been incredible to watch her learn and grow. The little blondie recently had her third birthday, had her first week of swimming lessons and is becoming more and more independent each day. She’s even taken ownership of feeding the cats as a daily chore.

THE MORE COLLAB
You guys, I can’t even tell you how much my heart gushes every time I think about this passion project. I just don’t even know where to start.
First of all, it’s been incredible to develop a friendship with Sara and Rachelle, the two other founders of The More Collab. They may not even realize it but they bring so much value to my life. Their friendships and the projects we’re working on challenge, fulfill and inspire me in so many different ways. I’m able to nerd-out about business and big ideas with them and I’m so grateful for that.
We have great, big, incredible dreams of creating a community of encouragement, discovery and inspiration with The More Collab in addition to the There’s More To Nebraska box that we just launched this month.
If you’ve been dreaming of something MORE for your life – whatever MORE looks like for you – join The More Collab over on Facebook and Instagram.
And props to Jen over at Our Cozy House for helping us with our mini photo shoot for The More Collab!

DISCOVERY + FOCUS
When I reflect on the past few months, there have been several things that have been tugging at my heart. Mainly things I’ve been dreaming about pursuing and wondering if the time is right to do said things and what my capacity is and how it contributes to the life I want to create.
There was a point when I realized I was starting to revert back to old habits – the bad habits of trying to do everything even when I knew it’s not possible to do all the things all at the same time. I was trying to grab all the shiny, colorful balloons (opportunities) before they drifted away, never to return.
But that was exhausting.
And I would much rather feel fulfilled than exhausted which means that saying no or not right now is something that needs to be said. It’s also about being faithful with the belief that things will happen in His timing, as they’re meant to.
I’ve mentioned a few things that I jot down in my Start Today Journal (see Family Time) and that daily practice has really helped me discover what I need to focus on each and every day in order to achieve my dreams and goals in this season of my life.
If you’re curious, you can learn more about the Start Today Journal in Episode 72 of the Rise podcast. And yes, I’m a Rachel Hollis fan. I’ve shared on the blog before how much I loved Girl, Wash Your Face and I recently finished Girl, Stop Apologizing. I’m here for anything and everything Rach has to share with the world.

WORK LIFE
“Set your intention.” and “Done is better than perfect.”
Those are two themes I’ve been focusing on lately at work. In fact, they’re posted above my desk as a constant reminder.
Sometimes I find myself procrastinating with things on my to do list because they seem too daunting but when I reframe my thoughts and focus on the why, the intention, of doing what needs to be done, it’s easier for me to dig in and get to work.
It’s also easy for me to get wrapped up in all the details of a project or making sure a press release, blog post or email draft is just right before submitting anything but it feels so much better to get things done than to get things perfect.
It definitely helped that I did some spring cleaning in my office a few weeks ago too because an uncluttered space = an uncluttered mind.

ENNEAGRAM
I don’t know what took me so long to finally take the enneagram. I love personality inventories and reading and learning more about habits, preferences and personalities. I guess I just hadn’t gotten around to doing it.
I’m a 9 (The Peaceful Mediator), which makes sense, although I definitely feel, like with any personality assessment, it’s all on a scale. In certain instances, I feel like I’m more of a 5 (The Investigative Thinker) and in other contexts I can definitely be a 7 (The Entertaining Optimist).
I haven’t taken the time to dig in deeper to learn more about 9’s and the other numbers but I’m looking forward to learning more.
What number are you?
So, there you have it.
A little bit of what I’ve been up to while I’ve been MIA from the blog these past few months.
What’s one thing you’re focused on in this season of your life?
