It seems like our Spring weather is here to stay and I, for one, am thrilled! Spring is my favorite season. 70 degree days, sun rays warming up weekend afternoons, green grass and buds on the trees, baby calves frolicking through the pasture, the smell of rain showers.
I could go on and on but in the spirit of Spring newness, I’m excited to share the first-ever post of the Firework Favorites series.
Each month, I’ll share five of my favorite moments, products, recipes, books or insights that added value to my life in the hopes they will offer value to your life too.
I’m also linking up with Ashley at The Big White Farmhouse who has shared her Five Favorites and she’s got some beautiful Spring forsythia on her favorites list this month.
FIVE FIREWORK FAVORITES: APRIL 2018
#1 Electricity
After being without power for 132 hours (that’s 5.5 days, people!) after a Spring snow/ice storm, electricity is at the top of my favorites list.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s not like we were exactly roughing it thanks to the gas powered generator that provided us with heat, lights, hot water and tv. That many hours without power does, however, make you stop and appreciate the little things. The everyday things we don’t realize how much we miss until we no longer have them.
I expressed these sentiments over on my Facebook page in the midst of our power outage.
#2 Her View From Home
I’ve admired this site for some time. It’s one of my favorite blogs out there. The honesty, the reality, the vulnerably, the creativity, the community.
Ever since coming across the site, I saw myself there. I saw my thoughts and my words on that site. And in April, that vision became a reality!
The concept for my debut post on Her View From Home came to me in the final hours of a long yet fulfilling work day. I was tired, I still had things to do and I was soooo ready for bed. But Little E had other plans in mind. This visual explains it all.
So this post on Her View From Home served as a letter to her and a reminder to myself.
Read it here – To My Rambunctious Toddler at Bedtime. This one’s for you, Little E.
#3 Fun Coffee Mugs
I just love what a fun mug can do for you in the morning…or any time of day. It can boost your mood, make you smile, make you laugh. My favorite mug at home reminds me to follow my dreams, wherever they may take me.
I also love this Homemade Coffee Creamer. It’s a cinch to make, takes only a few ingredients and is so delicious!

#4 Libraries
I FINALLY renewed our library card (is there such a thing as a library card anymore?) because it had been far too long.
After having Little E, reading became a luxury that I didn’t make time for back when Little E was Baby E. Now that she’s developed her own interest in books, it’s been fun taking her there and watching her explore the aisles of stories.
As far as my own library adventures, I’ve recently shared a few books worth reading as well as nine take-aways from my current favorite book, A Million Little Ways by Emily P. Freeman.
#5 Spring Quinoa Salad
With a craving for Spring flavors, I created this Spring Quinoa Salad. It’s a quick and easy weeknight side dish that doubled as delicious leftovers for lunch the next day.
Add grilled chicken or shrimp to the leftover salad and you’d have yourself a brand new meal the next day for dinner too!
What have been some of your April favorites?
Such a great list! I need to try that quinoa salad – it looks delicious.
Thanks so much for linking up with Five Favorites!
You’re welcome and thank YOU for creating the opporrunity! Yes, you’ll have to try the quinoa salad!
