There's a reason I write. Well, several reasons actually. But one in particular was recently reinforced. I had the opportunity to speak to a large group (40+ which is large for me) about something that is important to me, a topic that is near and dear to my heart. Public speaking is NOT my jam. I prefer, and love, small group conversations. Situations with more than 5 or 6 faces focused on me and what I have to say all at one time is like a VIP invitation for my inner critic to make a grand ... View Post
Five Firework Favorites ☆ August 2018
August is a confusing month. One day the sun will be out and you feel like you should be floating down the river (Yes, floating down a river in a tank or tube is a thing here in Nebraska.) The next day it feels like fall has hit and you have to turn your seat warmers on on the way to work to fight the chill. I don't like being teased and Mother Nature acts like the entire month of August is April Fool's Day. However I do love hanging on to the final days of warm weather, busting out the comfy ... I have been reading up a storm lately. I tell you, ever since discovering the Libby mobile app for Nebraska OverDrive Libraries, I've discovered a whole new, convenient world of hundreds and hundreds of books and audiobooks. I typically read at the end of the day to unwind and calm my mind before going to bed and I also try to read during any pocket of time throughout the day like during my lunch breaks. The boxes of items to donate have been riding around with you in the back of your vehicle for the past two weeks waiting to be dropped off. You'd like to put together a plan for your family's meals for the week but are barely organized enough to know ... View Post
Five Firework Favorites ☆ July 2018
The hustle and bustle of summer has been winding down for our family and we've been able to enjoy the past few weekends at home with nothing to do and no place to be. It seems liked June was filled with weddings, family reunions and weekend getaways. I don't think there was a weekend in June when we weren't away from home for an entire day if not longer. Then came 4th of July which is when we always host a hog roast, epic slip-n-slide and fireworks for our family, friends and neighbors. George ... View Post
Books Worth Reading ☆ July 2018
I know I'm a bit behind the times but I have to tell you...it was only last month when I read my first e-book. I've always enjoyed the new book smell when you open up the cover of a highly anticipated book. I've always gotten a sense of progress and accomplishment as I flip through each and every physical page. I was afraid that e-books wouldn't give me that same sense of enjoyment and fulfillment. But I was wrong. I still get enjoyment from having access to hundreds and hundreds of ... View Post
