Just a few short months ago, I was leery of podcasts.
You see, I’m a note taker and I felt that if I was going to spend time listening to podcasts, I needed to commit all of my attention to their content. I needed to avoid multi-tasking and take notes. I needed to be completely focused in order to get anything out of them.
Boy was I wrong.
I decided to try them out. Rather than music, I’ll started exploring motivating podcasts on Spotify and discovered a whole new magical land of motivating goal diggers, purpose seekers and do-gooders.
I was hooked.
Sure, I still take a few notes while I’m listening if something particularly interesting or helpful is mentioned. I can’t help myself. But I don’t feel the need to studiously commit all of my time and energy to the content while listing. Talk about letting go of old habits!
In fact, I’ve discovered that simply being in the midst of inspiring voices and motivating messages is a benefit in and of itself. I may not catch every thought-provoking quote or tidbit of information but it’s about creating a space where I’m hearing powerful and motivating messages that will keep me moving forward with my own actions and dreams.
Here are some of my favorite motivating podcasts focused on topics ranging from pursuing your goals, growing a business and living a purposeful life.
You’ll enjoy these podcasts if you’re a working mom who desires personal development. If you’re a stay-at-home mom who’s interested in launching a side hustle. Maybe you’re a young professional who dreams of leaving the corporate world to become a creative entrepreneur. You may currently be a business owner who wants to do #allthethings.
So take a listen while you’re at work, relaxing outside on your porch or even while you’re doing the dishes.
You’ll soak up WHAT you need to WHEN you need to.
4 Motivating Podcasts for Creatives + Entrepreneurs + Lifelong Learners
#1 Goal Digger Podcast with Jenna Kutcher
This is my current favorite podcast. You can sense Jenna’s raw and authentic desire to do good in the world and help others through her enthusiastic tone and thoughtful wisdom. She’s all about empowering others to authentically share their gifts to pursue your goals.
Many of Jenna’s episodes have an interwoven business twist for creative entrepreneurs, focusing on topics like branding, Pinterest and ways to connect with ideal customers. She also shares about other topics that are near and dear to her heart including miscarriage and body positivity.
#2 Pursuit with Purpose Podcast with Melyssa Griffin
Melyssa’s all about digging deep to discover and live a happy and purposeful life. Several of the Pursuit with Purpose episodes feature high-achieving entrepreneurial guests but each and every message comes down to doing what you love and living a life you love.
Melyssa shares her personal journey of how searching for external achievement and success culminated to her discovery of the value and importance of personal growth and development focused on gratitude and authenticity.
#3 The School of Greatness Podcast with Lewis Howes
This was the first podcast I came across when I decided to give them a shot. I was drawn in by Lewis’ authenticity, compassion and love for all people. He affirms his podcast guests and listeners regularly and it’s hard not to believe in yourself or stay unmotivated when you have a voice like that whispering in your ear.
As a former pro athlete, Lewis has great perspectives and experiences with performance, grit and achieving big goals. His experience with transitioning into the role of author and lifestyle entrepreneur peaked my interest and brings a deeper level to his conversations with his podcast guests in terms of connecting with and helping people.
#4 Christy Wright’s Business Boutique
Having a natural interest in business put the Business Boutique podcasts in my tops favorites. Whether you’ve been a business owner for years, are just starting out or have ideas for a business but don’t know where to start, try out this podcast.
Christy exudes a let’s-take-action-and-get-this-stuff-done kind of attitude. She promotes setting benchmarks and step-by-step actions to achieve your entrepreneurial goals. If you’re like me, external accountability is motivating and helpful, even if it’s just a voice coming through my computer speakers.
